Monday 25 November 2024 Fatima Whitbread Wow! #DidYouKnow that yesterday, Fatima Whitbread visited us to share her inspiring life story and raise awareness of her #Charity initiative, Fatima's UK Campaign, as part of #AntiBullyingWeekHer aim was to encourage students to embrace the #Values of belonging, opportunity, and achievement, empowering them with the message that resilience, kindness, and self-belief can overcome challenges and lead to brighter futures. Fatima's visit highlighted the importance of standing together, respecting one another, and ensuring every child feels valued and supported.Fatima Whitbread said "Sharing my life story as part of my UK campaign is about reminding children and young people that they matter. It’s not just about where you start in life, but the determination and resilience to keep going. Thursday 7 November 2024 Aspire Road Trip pupils in KS4 took Aspire Cafe on the road last half term, visiting the Eve Belle Care home, and delivering a yummy cream tea to residents. The students did an amazing job.

Wednesday 23 October 2024 Key Stage 4 Art In Key Stage 4 Art the students are working on coloured pencil studies of a Paul Cézanne landscape, a French impressionist and painter.They have learnt how to use a grid to draw out an accurate representation of the landscape as well as blend coloured pencils together. They are working towards creating their own individual landscape painting

Friday 18 October 2024 Royal Opera House Visit We had an amazing opportunity to visit the prestigious Royal Opera House to watch the enchanting ballet "Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland".This unforgettable experience immersed our pupils in the world of performing arts, igniting their creativity and sparking their imaginations. Thank you to the Jack Petchey Foundation for funding this incredible experience.

Friday 28 June 2024 Hyde Hall Hadleigh class had a fun time exploring Hyde Hall as part of their Vocational lessons. They created observational drawings of flowers, discussed different jobs in Horticulture and had a great time rolling down the hills!

Thursday 20 June 2024 Bike Maintenance As part of the #KeyStage4 vocational car and bike maintenance #ASDAN course, students visitedThorndon Country Park Bike Trail. Students were able to carry out a ‘M’ check on the bikeswhich they hired. When they were satisfied with the checks, students were then able to ride the trail, taking in the sites of the park!

Friday 14 June 2024 Work Placement A successful, independent work placement for one of our #KeyStage5 students. She has settled in at a local café and staff and customers love her friendly manner. The skills builder program and support from job coaches has given her the skills and confidence to pursue her dreams!

Monday 10 June 2024 Lifeskills In our Lifeskills sessions, we looked at road safety with students in form 5.1 highlighting the importance of road awareness and safe crossing practices to enhance their independence. Our students enjoy the practical aspect of life skills, and their confidence is growing with each lesson.

Wednesday 8 May 2024 Bangladesh Week Miss Akthar has kindly taught KeyStage3 about Bengali culture and Bangladesh this week.Students (and staff) dressed up in Saris and asked Miss Akthar lots of questions. Poems, short stories and recounts were written in English lessons too!

Wednesday 24 April 2024 6th form Trip to Barcelona ???? Our 6th form students are soaking up the vibrant sights and sounds of BarcelonaFrom soaring in aeroplanes to exploring the underground metro, gliding in cable cars, and climbing hills with the funicular, every moment is an adventure.

Monday 22 April 2024 National supported Internship On Wednesday 27th of March Castledon School organised an event for the National Supported Internship day which was hosted at AspireCafeStudents along with parents and carers from across Essex learnt what a Supported Internship entails and what future career opportunities and pathways could be offered to them. Students from Key Stage3 also came along to sell gifts and sweets for the Easter holidays. The gifts ranged from handmade cards, wrapped sweets and even beautiful bouquets of daffodils. Well done to everyone involved!

Wednesday 20 March 2024 Sixth Form Drama The Sixth Form Drama group enjoyed an in depth tour of the Towngate Theatre in Basildon. This was followed by the chance to ask questions to explore the various career paths within the creative industries which will help them to complete part of their Level 1 qualification.
