School Council
Student Voice is fundamental to our mission of providing a quality education and experience for all.
Our vision is to amplify student voice at Castledon, and so develop both our pupils' interpersonal/leadership skills, as well as improving our educational provision. By working together in this way, we can also create a greater sense of 'belonging' and 'community'.
We aim to do this by:
- Providing opportunities for our pupils to work in collaboration
- Ensuring there are regular opportunities for our pupils to speak
- Taking the time to listen to their views and commit to a dialogue on the topics that they raise
- Actively providing platforms for feedback
- Striving to reinforce a culture of positivity and dignity that cascades through our school, and contributes to raising aspirations.
This autumn term the Student Council has:
Attended the Zenith Trust Student Council Conference, where we shared how our school celebrates success and discussed some new ideas on how we can celebrate achievements in different subjects.
We hosted a visit from Treetops School in Thurrock. We had a great time discussing what we enjoy at school and what changes we would like to make.
We supported the Poppy Appeal by selling poppies around the academy and look forward to supporting other charities in the future.
We helped to host a virtual assembly, where we shared news on how Castledon has supported a local food bank and decorated a Christmas tree at the Christchurch Christmas Tree Festival in Wickford.
